Subject: In Response To Your Resume

I reviewed the resume that you posted on the internet. While I don't have a job offer for you, if you're open to considering an independent relationship with a well known, highly respected company, I have information that may be of interest as you search for a new income source. Should you choose not to respond, there will be no follow up to this message, so you can be assured you will not be blasted by numerous messages. I have given you my email address as well as my home and office telephone number and promise not to offend you. No other use of your identity will be made except as relates to communications, and then only with your permission, regarding this subject. I respect your privacy. With that in mind, only if you give me your permission, will I forward you additional information for your review concerning When, Where, and Why on this Global turn-key .com internet business. The income potential is significant. Top producers are earning $20,000 to $30,000 Monthly income as well as stock options and bonuses. If I can have your permission to send the, free no obligation, information for your consideration, simply reply to this email, and type " Send More Information " in the subject line.

My only response to this one was to forward it to Ed, saying "doesn't it sound like a scam? Maybe a call girl ring?" I did not give Stan permission to send me more information.

He sent me more information despite his promise.

Subject: Your Internet Posting

Dear Susan,
I'm contacting you regarding your posting on the internet. While I don't have a job to offer you, if you're open to considering an independent relationship with a publicly traded ( NASDAQ) company that has been an icon of TRUST and VALUE in America nearly 100 years, I have information that may be of importance to you as you search for a new income source. In the event that you do not want to receive this or additional information, please scroll to the bottom and just click on the delete link at the end of this message. It is not my intent to bother you with useless, annoying messages (my emphasis). If you are open to such an idea, you can be on the ground floor as this company diversifies from its traditional brick and mortar model and now launches its revolutionary Automated E-commerce System. This allows participants to leverage technology to it's fullest potential. Because I don't know you and your talents, I can't promise anything, or accurately predict your income from this association. Income potential is significant and can include stock options. You can participate part time or full time, and you can operate on your own schedule. Would you like to consider this information? If so, click on the link provided below. Susan, I can't promise anything at this moment, but here's what I hope to accomplish. I'm interviewing no less than 50 people this week, with the goal of finding the right person to include on our team. Therefore, if you have genuine interest and desire additional information, call me as soon as you've completed the review at 281-535-3325. Time is of the essence. If you would prefer to receive the information offline, please reply by email or call me direct and I will send it at no cost to you. Your reply will be confidential.

Now it really sounds like a scam, and this guy sounds like an encyclopedia salesman. I do not click to stop additional messages, because it's kind of funny, plus I don't know where the link will send me, so I don't trust it. (Well, actually I know it will send me to a site owned by CAIS Internet, in VA, but don't bother to investigate further). And so I receive...

Subject: Life is meant to be good

Hello again Susan,

Recently I emailed you concerning the expansion of a new division of the Rexall company. The message included the link to a site for your review. Susan, as stated in our first message to you, Rexall Showcase International has launched an aggressive e-commerce campaign offering you a truly ground floor opportunity with a new division of a 97 year old company. I assure you, this is not a get rich scam, but a real opportunity with one of the most trusted and respected names in America and throughout the world today. I gave you my direct number at home and office 281-535-3325. If you called, I'm curious as to why you didn't leave a message so that I, or one of my associates, could get back to you and more fully explain the details of this unique income opportunity. Maybe something came up and you just haven't had the time to review the site containing the information about our program. Invest a few moments in your future and review the following site, you'll be glad you did.

If I'm wrong, and you don't find value in this information, then you've wasted a few minutes, but what if I'm right? What if this is exactly what you've been looking for? If this is the case, take 2 minutes and call me directly or reply by e-mail. If I'm on the other line, be sure to leave your name and number as well as the best time to contact you.

Well, I liked this one. I liked the subject line. I liked that the company IS a real company, and that they hired a huckster to do their recruiting, thereby ensuring that they will get only losers as applicants. I liked the way the line "I assure you, this is not a get rich scam" makes me think it's exactly that. And so I still did not remove my name from his list. Today I received this.

DearSusan

Mark your calendar Now!!!

"Never before,.... I repeat never before have I made an announcement for Houston with the significance of the following information".

On Thursday evening, May 4, 2000 from 7:00-9:00pm, there will be a Business Review for Rexall Showcase International, unlike any event that has ever occurred in Houston. This event will feature a first-time, big-time line-up of highly distinguished and successful individuals and it can be said with confidence that there will not likely be another event of such importance for many years to come.

Robert & Joanie Markowitz, pioneers of Rexall in Houston, will be hosting this Business Review and here's what's in store for those that will be in attendance:

Rik Deitsch- Sr. VP of Product Research & Development, Rexall Showcase, Intl., who will announce details concerning a new life-changing product that will be offered through our division. This product addresses a disease of epidemic proportions. Never before has the company introduced a product other than at a major semi-annual national corporate conference, and we are privileged that Houston is on a short list of cities where the announcement will be made.

Todd Smith, Chairman of the Presidential Board of Advisors, Nationally Recognized Leader in the Direct Marketing industry, has been featured in major national magazines; currently earning over $2 million dollars annually.

Randy Schroeder, Member of Presidential Board of Advisors, wanted to attend but due to scehduling conflicts will not be able to make it.

You will hear first hand, comments by Todd to emphasize just how fortunate we are to be in the right time and right place to participate with this company, and what you can do to take full advantage of the opportunity this presents.

Where: Sheraton North Houston, 15700 JFK Blvd., near Bush Intercontinental Airport
Phone: 281-442-5100
Date: May 4, 2000
Time: 7-9pm (Note the special 2 hour time period)

Well, I would have gone if Randy Schroeder was attending. Anyway, I did go to Rexall's site, and what do you know, it makes them look like they're all a bunch of Stanley Motz'! They're purporting to offer a way to set up a dot com business without working hard or spending much money (although their disclaimer says you might have to work hard, they aren't promising anything). Yup, you too can sell drugs on-line. I didn't read too much more about it, but was surprised to see how cheesy the whole thing was. I can't believe they used Monster.com to spam this scheme around.
