Jemez Mountains (47 of 50)
Valles Caldera National Preserve.
A park ranger at Bandolier (aside: people in New Mexico are incredibly friendly and helpful. It is very easy to meet people here) recommended a slightly longer drive to Albuquerque. We went past Los Alamos (I should have taken a picture of one of the creepy labs that were everywhere), and through the forest that burned a couple of years ago. Very beatiful, despite the fire. Above is Valles Caldera National Preserve, which was purchased under the Clinton administration just before he left office. Just this small piece of it was breathtaking. We were listening to an Aaron Copeland CD while driving.
