About

My life is really boring. This much has become evident in trying to keep this site updated in the last year. I can't really write about work, where I spend most of my time, since this is a public site. I don't have kids who do funny things. I spend a lot of my free time in front of a computer. I don't get to travel as much as I'd like.

I originally started this site as a way to show my family my new town, Houston. This was a great way to link to all the new things I was seeing. There is a little less of that these days, too.

So I decided to change things. I started two new sites, one replacing the original weblog, and one brand new. The new one is a gardening log. I will use it to collect gardening links, keep track of what blooms when, what I plant, and anything else I do in my gardening. I will also post the occasional photo. It won't be interesting to everyone, maybe not to anyone but me! All participation is of course voluntary. A few notes about this site: it is done with CSS, not tables, so there might be some issues at first, particulary with IE/Mac, which I understand is the problem child of newer browsers, and which I cannot test. I also used some non-websafe colors, since I was winging it. If either of these things cause problems, let me know and I can fix.

My main website is still sort of a log. I decided to make it more photo-centric, though. This way if I have nothing to write, I can take or find a photo and write about that. Sometimes it will be timely, sometimes something I pull out of my old photos. We'll see. Also, I'm not sure yet how I will do archiving. I'm envisioning one photo/post per page, which might be a pain without programming. Again, we'll see. I just threw together a design, so expect that to change a bit while I figure out what works.

I might start a few other subsites, too, since a theme keeps it more interesting. I'll see how I do updating these first, though. Don't expect much more posting frequency for now, since I'm pretty busy.
