Christmas Day, 2002
Merry Christmas, everyone! We had a quiet Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at our friends Mike and Carla's house, and Christmas dinner with friends Brian and Laura. Otherwise, we've just been hanging out. We did have a party (invitation by Linda) last weekend, which was really fun, and we made it to Lights in the Heights the weekend before. But because of the home tour, the season went by very fast and we didn't get to do all the seasonal things I would have liked. I'm looking forward to this winter, when we aren't rushing to finish projects every weekend!

As if Monday mornings weren't bad enough, there's not much worse than going to work after a beautiful weekend than having to pass a corpse on the way to the elevators. I was late to the office today, so was not among those watching a man climbing the building this morning. And thankfully I was not among those coworkers looking him in the eye when he jumped. But he was still lying on the ground when I got there, huge divot next to him. And his dangling equipment was still hanging just above my floor. By lunchtime the body was gone, the hole filled, the sod replaced, and the strap removed. Grief counselors were on site, and I attended the session for managers (one of my employees was a witness).
Something sunnier (perhaps about the home tour? or Christmas?) later.
