2002

December 2002 The big deal this month was the home tour, but I didn't have much time to write about it. Also, a man climbed my building and fell to his death. We had a Christmas party and did Christmas things. Also, Christmas came.

November 2002 We bought a piano and some other furniture. This was ultimately for the home tour, and ultimately, this month's postings were all about the home tour.

October 2002 Hurricane Lily, mysterious helicopters, neighborhood party, new neighbors, home tour prep. My favorite things this month were the publication of the 1880 U.S. census, and the Hyde Park Miniature Museum. Also, Halloween came.

September 2002 First anniversary, 9-11.

August 2002 Still in New Mexico for the first part of the month. Once home, a visit to the Titanic artifact exhibit.

July 2002 Erica visited, and we all packed up and went to New Mexico for vacation.

June 2002 The beginning of our massive home improvement projects, including, but not limited to, painting! Day trip to Huntsville, day business trip to Dallas, party for old friends, and Pink Poodle Promenade.

May 2002 The Galveston Historic Home Tour, the Batterman Historic Home Archaeological Dig, Star Wars Wookie (er, hooky), and some historical information about the Meachams.

April 2002 Visit by the Steele's, which I did not appear to document very well. Also, Houston Heights Home and Garden Tour and office movie day. And Dewey's first birthday!

March 2002 Dewey got stung by a wasp, finished the garage shelves, and had a business trip to Connecticut. Upon review, Dewey only did the first of those things. I did the rest.

February 2002 Ed's surgery. First trip to the Rodeo!

January 2002 Ed was scheduled for shoulder surgery, but it was preempted by raging high blood pressure. Looking at Art, clown neighbors, karaoke.

2001

December 2001 We built a geek snowman at work. I saw the Olympic torch come through our neighborhood. Ed and I took the Heights Holiday Home Tour. Erica came for Christmas. Christmas came.

November 2001 I got sick and also burned my hand. We started getting ready for Christmas.

October 2001 A refreshingly near terrorist-free month of postings. Dewey's big news was that he was neutered and declawed. Erica's was that she made the golf team and got her braces off. Ed and I didn't have much news other than dental work and furniture shopping. We'll work on that. Also, Mom and Dad showed up toward the end of the month.

September 2001 Need I say more than the above date? The first week-and-a-half was fine, but everything changed after that. Most of this month's postings reflect that.

August 2001 Some time spent in Pennsylvania with Mom, Dad, Linda, Kevin, Nico and Aidan. We acquired a kitten, Dewey. We went to San Antonio for a weekend. I had a few tooth problems. At work, it was just vendor after vendor.

July 2001 Well, I saw Tara Lipinsky skate a lot over at the Galleria. We separated our network from Williams' and fought the Code Red worm. We saw Final Fantasy and a dog show. And we flew to Michigan for Sam Manhart's wedding. Also, I changed tense in this archive section.

June 2001 The big story was Tropical Storm Allison and the resulting floods and the resulting mosquitoes. Erica arriced for the summer, resuming YMCA daycamp and golf with Ed. We had a weekend in Galveston, staying at the Galvez. Happy birthday to Nico!

May 2001 The trip to Puerto Rico. Ed and I get kinda, sorta engaged. I meet a nice cat. Happy birthday to me, and Happy birthday to Aidan. Ed buys a new car.

April 2001 I learn the new company name, see Memento, go to Orlando, and the Battermans and Jenkins convene in New Orleans for Jazz Fest. Heights Spring Home and Garden Tour.

March 2001 Mom and Dad visit. I take my first karate test. We start Looking at Art. Old sound recordings.

February 2001 We go broadband! Yay!!!! Spring begins, the leaves bud and the flowers begin to pop. We see Cosi Fan Tutti.

January 2001 I start karate. My company gets bought out. I resolve to be in a movie. I begin to see the futility of my resolution. We go broadband!!!! My car passes the 100,000 mile milestone.

2000

December 2000 Heights Holiday House Tour, winter gardening, cold weather. We have dinner with one of Ed's clients from Mexico and his brother. I buy Christmas specials on DVD. We attend our office Christmas parties. Christmas-shopping madness. Christmas dinner with friends. Ed gets the flu. I celebrate my one-year anniversary of living in Houston.

November 2000 Ed starts a weblog. Election mania. Shopping mania. Rock mania. Erica visits for Thanksgiving. We see Men of Honor and Unbreakable. We cook Thanksgiving dinner here, inviting another family. Go to Galveston, and start decorating for Christmas.

October 2000 Houston Heights Festival. Ed has a letter to the editor published in the Houston Chronicle. We take a trip to Boston. I attend Diversity Training at work. I begin dropping David Hasselhoff's name at every opportunity. Also break a molar. See Pay It Forward and go to a Dar Williams concert. Finally get my digital camera and start posting house pictures. We are overrun with trick-or-treaters.

September 2000 Record-breaking heat. We see The Tao of Steve and go antiquing. Nursery mania begins as the weather cools off slightly. I become a permanent employee of Williams Communications.

August 2000 The Chicken Incident. Erica's half-sister Rachelle visits. I get sick; Ed crashes on his bike. Inside Ed. Vintage Heights postcards.

July 2000 We see Arsenic and Old Lace. It's very, very hot in Houston. Even the water in the Gulf is hot. I go to Pittsburgh for vacation. Fun!

June 2000 Business trip to Cincinnati for training. Erica arrives for the summer. Father's Day in Kemah. Erica starts YMCA daycamp. Happy Birthday Nico. We do a lot around the house.

May 2000 Porch swing poll. I drive to Dallas to visit my college friend Karen Lavigne. Donna Gilbert and Kim Brown flew in as well. Happy Birthday Aidan, Happy Birthday me. I get a job, and we close on the house on my birthday. A motorcycle trip to Galveston.

April 2000 RealPlayer experiment. I update my monster.com resume, unleashing a furor of recruiter calls. Web research on Tiffany Jenkins. We zero in on the house we finally bought. I attend the Houston Heights Historic Home and Garden Tour. This month brings the Houston International Festival and the Art Car Parade. I begin interviewing in earnest. The stock market crashes, nearly wrecking our chances of buying a house. Erica visits for Easter. I go to NASA's Space Center Houston. Stock market crashes.

March 2000 Spring springs. I visit the Houston Zoo, The Menil Collection, Washington on the Brazos, and the Azalea Trail tour. Also interview with Baker Robbins Company, and get an offer from them, which I decline. Ed and I go to San Francisco and meet up with the Manharts. We see Damn Yankees with Tony Randall, and Ed joins a dart team. And we househunt.

February 2000 I start a weblog! Ed and I go to a wedding in Galveston, see a Beth Henley play, American Beauty and Wonder Boys. But mostly, it's about househunting.

January 2000 Not a real weblog, but my transcribed journal entries. I start to discover Houston, go to the opera, some clubs, some initial househunting.
