I'm in Connecticut now, and it looks a lot like Pennsylvania. We even saw three deer Sunday night on the way home from dinner. I don't know how much I'm accomplishing here since I've spent a good bit of time on conference calls back to Houston, but it's nice to meet people in person I've spoken to only by phone before. I get home Thursday night. When I get there, Ed will have already left for a trip to San Francisco. He gets home Friday and leaves for Orlando on Saturday for a week.

Saturday, March 23

I'm flying to Shelton, CT tomorrow on business. I'm not really looking forward to it because the weather there is not nice, and the weather here is nice, and my bulbs are starting to bloom. Also, it takes up a whole Sunday.

Erica made the front page of her local paper's sports section this morning. If I forget, remind me I need to change this link to the archive copy tomorrow. Also, check out her last quote!

Sunday, March 17

My computer seems to be working now.

With all the bad news stories emanating from Houston these days, I got a kick out of this story in today's paper.

Monday, March 11

Dewey had his first wasp sting tonight. He was expecting a pleasurable experience similar to the spider and mosquito expeditions he's enjoyed in the past. But sometimes the bear gets you. He seems to have recovered, now.

Sunday, March 10

Reason for not posting: computer problems and shelf building. The shelves are done now, but I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot the computer.

This month marks Houston's annual Fotofest. Yesterday Ed and I went to the opening of our friend Walt's new show. Walt quit his law partnership this fall to go to graduate school full time for photography. He's doing quite well, and we now own two of his photos.

Sunday, March 3

I've finally made some progress on my garage shelves project. It's been more involved than expected, in part because I had to assemble a table saw first, in part because I had to transport lumber in my Civic, in part because we decided we needed to put up wallboard as a back to the shelves, but mostly because it's a two-person job with only one person available. I found myself today holding up boards with my head while I juggled drillbits and screws. But the hard part is over, and two shelves are complete and full of junk. It's downhill from here.

Saturday, March 2

Another three nights of frosts beginning tonight, two of them hard. This is the first weekend of the Azalea Trail. I bet they didn't expect it to be so cold and windy! The only good to come out of this (hopefully) will be DEATH TO MOSQUITOES! For some reason, they didn't die this winter -- not that the ones that survived were biting, but I didn't like that just on principle.
