Texas Hill Country, Part IV
All this time I had stayed on official numbered county roads, unlikely as that sounds. Finally, after about 20 miles, I had to turn onto a road that was marked on my DeLorme software as "local or rural road" with no name. Very quickly the road became grown over. I was driving over bushes, and the brush was closing in on the road. Someone had put a "Keep Out" sign on the road. I realized that if I didn't turn back now, I might not get another chance. I started to get nervous, so I took advantage of the next marginally wider piece of road to do a 22-point turn and start back. It was a little disappointing, because it had been a fun trip. But I was glad to see the first (and only) sign of civilization at left. And shortly after, I saw a wild boar! The End. |
