Texas Hill Country, Part I
After we picked Erica up from Longhorn Golf Camp, we drove to Horseshoe Bay on Lake LBJ for the weekend. It is a golf resort, so while Ed and Erica golfed, I looked for some real fun. I had noticed that Enchanted Rock was not too far from the resort as the crow flies. Sticking to highways to get there would take some time, but the map showed some backroads that took a nearly direct route. I figured even if they were two-bit roads, it would be an interesting drive. So off I went, deciding at the last minute to take the GPS/mapping software setup. And glad of that I was. It took me 45 minutes to find the road. Even though it turned out to be a county road, it was not marked. It started off as a red dirt road, and I do have an SUV, so that was fine. more tomorrow.... |
