flood
Houston Canal District

We had a wee bit of flooding today in Houston. I took this photo out of my office window, standing on my desk while simultaneously participating in a conference call. The street is S. Post Oak Boulevard, which is under water. It may be hard to tell this, but if you look closely, you can see wakes emanating from some of the cars, and a pretty good stretch with no cars at all. After finishing my call, I joined my co-workers in the smashing sport of watching hapless drivers head straight into deep water, never thinking that their cars were not made for such adventure.

Some cars were made for such adventure, and interestingly enough they were expensive sport cars such as Jaguars. These cars seem to operate quite well as submarines. Minis, on the other hand, do not.

Anyway, both Ed and I were thankful to make it home, as we each cross two bayous on the way, and the freeways (which we also cross) were rivers, complete with boats (again).
