Ed and I spent the weekend in Austin. Y'all know about Keep Austin Weird? Well we lived it. We were at the Ginger Man there, and I had my laptop, and attracted the attention of a guy who knew a lot about various species of aliens and sang both On Wisconsin and the Wisconsin alma mater for me. He claimed he was running for city council, and since I had wireless I could check when he got up; I found that the only candidate running for that seat was Jennifer Gale. So when he got back we asked him his name... "oh, I'm Jennifer Gale". He's been running for various offices for many years, and his slogan has always been "Keep Austin Austin". His story is that this was appropriated by various groups and turned into "Keep Austin Weird", and since I know that his other stories are true, this one must be, too.
