I gave my first subcutaneous (or SQ as we call it in the profession) injection today, to young Master Dewey. He has been having allergy problems, we think to fleas. It first showed up a few months ago, and I took him to the vet, an experience so traumatic to him, me and Lizzie (who didn't even go) that I wound up taking a day off from work. So this time since the vet didn't really need to see him, he gave me the option of giving the shot myself. It was hard to get up the nerve to do it, but Dewey didn't even seem to mind, so if this is something we have to do every few months, it's not a problem. He hates the flea drops more than the shot, and they're non-invasive.
