Alamo Anniversary
On Saturday we walked along the Riverwalk to the Alamo. The Alamo is right in the middle of downtown San Antonio, which surprised me the first time I saw it. What's left isn't very big, but there is a lot of history here, and they have good artifacts: Davy Crockett's fancy vest, guns, and Bowie knives. Apparently the Alamo is the "Shrine of Texas Liberty". What we didn't realize beforehand was that because the anniversary of the final battle was two days earlier, there were special celebrations and a reenactment going on. Great timing, and we couldn't have gotten a better spot to watch from. Later, when we got out hearing back, we had a nice dinner at Silo. |
