Danger Beach

We spent last Sunday on the beach in West Galveston, down near San Luis Pass. The beach is wide there, and you can drive on it, which makes it easy for getting kayaks and boogie boards and beach chairs and food where you want them. Also, they don't ban beer, just glass bottles. I took the kayak toward my favorite place, a sandbar with weird tides, waves that go both in and out, riptides and by some accounts, sharks. Unfortunately, this time there was a big bed of jellyfish out there, so I turned around. It was a little too freaky pushing my paddle through actual jellyfishes (I know, I know, they are not supposed to be called jellyfishes). I was able to catch some decent waves back by where we were parked, anyway. Just not quite so dangerous.

Meanwhile, Erica boogie boarded and built an empire of sand people, including an igloo and a tank. She then proceeded to knock them over, bowl at them, and finally drove over them with my car (more pictures are over here). When I mentioned Calvin and Hobbes, she didn't even know what I was talking about.
