Here is my "Best Of" list for 2003:
Best Day: My birthday, when my whole family marched up and rang my doorbell as a surprise. So far, that's the best day of the millenium.
Best Coffee Break: Last week when I got to ride a Segway in the mall.
Best Micro-Vacation: This one is tough, since we took quite a few this year. I would say Santa Fe, since we did so many different things in our long weekend there. Runner up is Las Vegas, sponsor of the photo at left.
Best New Restaurant: Shade, which opened a few weeks ago in the Heights within walking distance (where Kaldi Cafe used to be). This is a fantastic restaurant, so far BYOB, and much needed here. Even better, Kaldi is reportedly reopening in a new location in the Heights.
Best Hasty Decision: Getting Lizzie. This one involved some actual strategy, and since I was the one who didn't want to come home with a kitten, I had to really think on my feet to get this particular one. She's been a fantastic addition to the family, and even Dewey is warming up to the paw-lickings that he's subjected to.

Happy New Year, everybody, and most of all I am thankful that I don't have to report anything bad this year (there were some annoying and troubling things, but they didn't amount to much). I wouldn't mind too much if 2004 was more of the same!
