I highly recommend the PBS series Craft in America. I just happened upon it tonight in HD; it looks like there are three episodes, all of which are playing tonight in Houston, but are repeated multiple times this week here.

So far they have covered quiltmakers, potters, glass artists (including Dale Chihuly), basket makers, weavers, furniture makers, and jewelers.

As usual with PBS shows, the show website has a lot of good information as well.
