Back online (somewhat)

I finally bought my laptop, and thanks to the Dallas Public Library, can be kinda sorta wired again. I am at the library that is a few blocks from our almost house, having just spent the morning with the inspector. Three hours and he didn’t even finish, because he’s a talker! But I learned a lot about houses, especially old houses, and got to go into the attic, and most importantly got some opinions and advice from him. Even though he will finish on Monday, he thinks the house is solid. He gave me the pros and cons on doing some of the foundation work a previous inspection report recommended, and how to handle resale if we decide against it. In essence, messing with an 85-year-old structure that is actually quite level (and probably hasn’t moved much recently) can cause a lot of other things to need repair (brickwork, plaster, etc.). And the walls and ceiling are wood plank, so it’s pretty stable.
Our option period ends Tuesday, so after that we are more or less locked in. Can’t wait to get out of that teeny apartment!
