To Missoula on the Northern Parks Ltd. |
Friday May 26 - Bigfork After breakfast (huckleberry syrup on French toast) in the Izaac Walton Dining Room, we drove back along the Middle Fork as far as Columbia Falls, and then took Hwy 2 and 206 and 35 to the town of Bigfork on Flathead Lake. There we got off the bus and spent about an hour walking around the small shop area. There are a lot of stores selling artwork, mostly Western art (Indians and cowboys). Bigfork was hosting a whitewater festival, so we watched kayakers running a slalom course on the Swan River which runs into Flathead Lake. After our brief tour of Bigfork, we got back on the bus to travel to Paradise to catch the train east across Montana. We drove around the north shore of Flathead Lake, past the Eagle's Bend Golf Course and stopped for lunch at the Montana Grill, where we had buffalo burgers.
